The August hike to Raven’s Ridge Overlook is Newcomers rated: Moderate to Strenuous.<br />Starting at 9:30 AM from the ski area parking lot near the restrooms we’ll take the Winsor Trail up to the Pecos Wilderness Gate (.8 mile), then take a hard right turn onto the Ravens Ridge Route following the Wilderness boundary (barbed wire fence) up to the Overlook (another.8 mile for a total of 1.6 uphill miles).<br />Total elevation gain is 1,055 feet. We will start at an elevation of 10,000 feet above sea level. Lots of shade. Trail has many roots and rocks. Hiking boots and poles recommended. With a 30-minute rest / snack time at the Overlook we will target being back to the parking lot by 1 PM.<br />The views from the Overlook are fantastic with Santa Fe Baldy in the background.
