Newcomers Club Shakespeare fans created this Group wherein the coordinator notifies members of Shakespeare performances far and wide (in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, or perhaps streaming from England). Future activities may include play-reading sessions, and discussions of the sonnets. Group members attend performances independently.

The Table Play Reading Group meets monthly at member's homes. Members are notified by the coordinator. A play is selected, ordered, and roles are assigned at least a month before each reading. At every meeting, members read their roles and the group has a lively discussion. PLEASE NOTE: While membership is at capacity at this time, we often need substitutes. Please register if you are interested and the coordinator will contact you.

The Writers’ Group is for members who write and/or want to write and share their work in a confidential and safe environment. Requirements: computer access, commitment to complete assignments, and participation. The sessions take place on the first Wednesday of the month at the "Tribes Coffee House" at 10 AM.

Gourmet I is currently meeting in person for small cocktail parties instead of dinners. The coordinator contacts members monthly and assigns groups of 6-8 to a host/hostess' home. Everyone contributes food to share. This is a great way to get to know people.

These predetermined gourmet groups of 6-8 people who dine together once a month emerged years ago when Newcomers first began and as friendships and relationships developed. Anyone can start a new group in this category if you have 6-8 people ready to go. You can show your interest by contacting the VP of Newcomers.

Outdoor Activities

This group is inactive during the off season. The 2021 season will begin December. This year we will meet on Mondays at 9 AM directly at the quad chair for first lift and again at 10 AM for late starters. In past years we met in the cafeteria. A second flex day will be Thursday or Friday depending on the weather favoring blue skies.

Each second Tuesday morning of the month (except January & February) we hike and explore trails in the beautiful Santa Fe area. Our hikes are typically rated as Moderate or Easy-Moderate by the well-known local hiking guides. Hikes will last 2-3 hours with a target return to Santa Fe by 1 PM. We meet at the trailhead appropriate for the specific hike. Trailhead meeting time is 9:00 AM in the SUMMER to avoid mid-day heat. NOTE: if you wish to hike with the group, you must register with the hiking coordinator. Reservations are required to hike. Note: Due to liability concerns we have a "no dog" policy (sorry)

On the fourth Wednesday of each month, (except holidays) the Walking Group meets at 10:00 AM. Walks range from easy, level, city walks to somewhat more hilly, rocky with sandy/gravel terrain. They are about 2 miles long and 1-1 1/2 hours in time and are less strenuous than the hikes. Optional lunch often follows the walk. Members of the group volunteer to lead along the many wonderful trails and paths available in the Santa Fe area. Walks details are sent to all group members by email one week in advance indicating the meeting place, walk level and other important details.
