Walking Group - Nature Conservancy Santa Fe Canyon Preserve
Brenda Wolfer will lead this approximately 2-mile loop trail moderate in difficulty through the Santa Fe River riparian area and historic dam site/pond.
There are interpretive signs along the trail providing information on the history of the preserve.
The first part of the trail is level in stretches and composed of sand and gravel, but there are inclines, and the path includes some rocky areas with ups and downs and occasional areas of loose rock that could be slippery.
If you are used to using walking sticks, they would be recommended for this walk.
The stretch of trail on the other side of the pond is covered with small (1-3”) rocks. There are areas where the plants cover the path and brush against your legs. There are trees and flowers and there have been deer and beaver sightings here. This is a nice area for sitting or strolling, there are benches near the water, so members of various fitness levels are encouraged to join us.
